Gebyar Panen Bertani Second Planting Season in Subang: A Concrete Proof of Increased Productivity and Farmer Welfare

05 Dec 2025

Subang, 27 November 2025 – Enthusiasm and joy were clearly felt at the Mekarjaya Village Hall Field, Compreng District, Subang, West Java, during the peak event of Gebyar Panen Bertani (GPB) for the Second Planting Season. Initiated by Edufarmers through the Bertani program, this event served as an important platform to showcase the best harvest productivity results from its farmer groups, as well as a space for continuous learning in good and efficient agricultural practices.

The Second Planting Season of GPB is a continuation of the planting period that began in July and the harvesting period in October. This event is the culmination of the Sentra Bertani Competition (SBC), a competition aimed at helping farmers improve their productivity while minimizing production costs as much as possible.

Six top farmer groups who made it to the final round had the opportunity to present their cultivation processes—from planting to harvest—on the main stage. They shared strategies and field practices that had proven effective in achieving optimal yields through the implementation of sustainable, precise, and efficient farming.

The Head of Mekarjaya Village, Mr. Dastari, expressed his highest appreciation to Edufarmers and the Bertani program in his opening remarks. “We strongly support activities like this because they provide knowledge, experience, and valuable lessons on how to organize and work together in groups,” he said. He also emphasized that technology will soon become an integral part of agriculture, and farmers must be prepared to learn, compete, and grow in a healthy manner.

Pak Makhrufi from the SB 9 Group – Kalensari Village, the 1st place winner, shared an inspiring story of how failure in the first season turned into success in the second. The key, he said, was intensive daily field monitoring and the proper use of agricultural products at accurate dosages as recommended.

“The first trick is simply to follow the directions from the Bertani team throughout the competition, and also to be more consistent in monitoring crop conditions, pests, and diseases in the field. That must be done every day,” said Pak Makhrufi.

He also praised the role of the Bertani field facilitators (FF), such as Kang Arvan and Kang Yogi, whose knowledge was highly absorbed by the farmers. They were always ready to share insights—from soil condition measurements to planting processes.

Hadi, Head of Agri Solutions at Edufarmers, reiterated that the purpose of GPB is to improve farmers’ welfare. The event is designed entirely for the benefit of the farmers, with the hope that it becomes a platform for information exchange. “We share the knowledge we have—things farmers may not have known—and at the same time, we also learn from their experiences.” This initiative is carried out together with the main sponsor of GPB, BBB, which provides efficient, generic agricultural products.

The GPB Subang event for the Second Planting Season was not only a harvest celebration but also a moment to reinforce the collective commitment to applying best agricultural practices that directly improve farmers’ income and welfare. This is in line with Pak Makhrufi’s hope that farmers continue to cultivate rice diligently, as it brings blessings, benefits, and good deeds.

In addition to the winners’ presentations, GPB also featured a booth for Pak Dayat, the AI agronomist, which helps farmers solve field issues via WhatsApp—through voice messages, text, videos, or photos. Pak Dayat became one of the technological tools utilized by farmers during the competition.

During the hands-on trial session guided by the Bertani Team, farmers showed great enthusiasm in sending messages about issues they faced in their fields. The presence of this technology reflects that the future of agriculture will be increasingly supported by easy access to information and practical solutions.
