Gebyar Panen Bertani Indramayu: Learning, Innovating, and Achieving Together
23 Oct 2025Indramayu, October 14, 2025 — Gebyar Panen Bertani (GPB) returned with the spirit of togetherness and learning. Held in Gabuswetan Subdistrict, the event was attended by various local leaders, including Suminta (Head of Gabuswetan Subdistrict), Police Chief Iptu H. Karnadi, Head of UPTD Tiryono, Head of BPP Gabuswetan Adi Cahyadi, and Village Head of Drunten Kulon Adi Sucipto. A total of 343 participants and invited guests joined the event, which served as both a competition and a learning platform for farmers across Indramayu.
The Gebyar Panen Bertani is more than just a harvest competition between farmer groups. It is part of an intensive Farmers Field School (FFS)-based training designed to promote the adoption of modern, efficient, and practical agricultural practices.
The competition took place throughout the second planting season in Gabuswetan, from July to October 2025, with a series of activities including weekly pest and disease monitoring, group-based intensive FFS sessions tailored to farmers’ needs, regular Farmers Meetings (FM) featuring engaging themes, and a Big Farmer Field School session led by researchers and practitioners, all culminating in the Gebyar Panen celebration at the end of the planting season.
Through this program, participants learned hands-on about every aspect of crop cultivation, from setting up standard operating procedures (SOPs) for farming to integrated pest management and effective cost control.
“Through GPB, we want to help farmers understand how to farm more efficiently, while also learning from their own experiences to maximize yields,” explained Evaulia, Bertani Community Manager.
This year, Gabus Wetan 15 farmer group, led by Pak Suryana, won Gebyar Panen Bertani 2025 with a harvest of 10.25 tons per hectare and a final score of 94.03.
Their success was not only due to technical skills but also teamwork and a strong willingness to learn.
According to the judges, since joining the Sentra Bertani program, Suryana’s group has been consistent in conducting detailed field observations, which helped them better understand the importance of efficient agricultural input use.
Pak Suryana expressed his pride:
“It’s an honor to join this competition. Every group has its own strategy, but for us, unity is key. We also strive to reduce costs, from fertilization and spraying to other farm management expenses.”
One of the most valuable lessons for Suryana’s group was learning the ubinan technique, a simple method for sampling and estimating yield per hectare that helps farmers understand their land’s productivity.
He also emphasized the importance of field observation and how technology can support farmers’ learning.
“The key is observation. And now, there’s even a formula to calculate yields using the ubinan method, something I just learned. With the Pak Dayat app, it’s so much easier for us farmers. It’s simple, clear, and straightforward. We don’t need to type much, just take a photo.”
Pak Dayat is an AI-powered agronomy assistant developed as an agronomist chatbot to help farmers access agricultural consultation quickly and easily. Through this chatbot, farmers can:
-
Send plant photos for pest and disease identification
-
Receive fertilization and pest control recommendations
-
Check local weather forecasts
-
Consult directly with agricultural experts 24/7
The chatbot is designed to be user-friendly, even for farmers who are not tech-savvy. With Pak Dayat, learning becomes more practical, efficient, and aligned with real field conditions.
The GPB event was also supported by Benih Berkah Berseri (BBB) as the main sponsor.
According to Evaulia, “Through this event, we also want to introduce our sponsor’s product, Benih Berkah Berseri, a high-quality seed brand proven effective through demo plots at Sentra Bertani. We want farmers to know they have access to reliable, high-performing agricultural products at competitive prices.”
This partnership aligns with the shared mission of Edufarmers and BBB to improve farmers’ welfare by providing access to high-quality, affordable agricultural products, enabling them to continue innovating and sustainably improving their yields.
The Gebyar Panen Bertani competition was judged on three main aspects:
- Cultivation Practices – Application of good and efficient farming techniques.
- Production Costs – Effectiveness in managing and reducing farming expenses.
- Group Cohesion – Teamwork, communication, and collective spirit among members.
Gebyar Panen Bertani Indramayu 2025 was more than a harvest competition, it stood as proof that collaboration, a learning spirit, and efficiency can lead farmers toward better results.
Through this event, Edufarmers and its partners continue to nurture a new generation of farmers, resilient, modern, and eager to share knowledge, for a more advanced and sustainable Indonesian agriculture.
