Edufarmers and BRIN Strengthen Corn and Chili Research to Boost Indonesian Farmers’ Productivity
01 Sep 2025
As a concrete step to address agricultural and food security challenges, Edufarmers and Organisasi Riset Pertanian dan Pangan (ORPP) under Badan Riset dan Inovasi Nasional (BRIN) signed two strategic cooperation agreements during the International Conference on Food and Agricultural Science themed “From Smart Agriculture to Secure Plates: Ensuring Food Safety and Sustainability.”
Together with ORPP, Edufarmers will focus on optimizing corn agronomy practices. This collaboration will integrate various components, including variety selection, plant density, nutrient management, water management, and crop protection, with a target yield increase of 10–12 tons per hectare.
This partnership marks an important step in bridging research outcomes with field practices. Edufarmers emphasizes that research should not stop at the laboratory level but must continue until it provides tangible benefits for corn farmers’ livelihoods.
In addition to corn, Edufarmers is also partnering with BRIN’s Horticulture Research Center through a cooperation agreement on improving chili cultivation technology. The research will focus on studying the influence of genetic factors and cultivation management on chili growth and productivity.
The study will cover the entire cultivation process, from seedling to harvest. The results will be formulated into a package that will be tested and implemented directly with farmers.
The collaboration between Edufarmers and BRIN underscores the importance of research that can be directly applied in the field. With this approach, farmers are expected to achieve better yields, increase their income, and contribute meaningfully to strengthening national food security.
