TAFEST 2025: Cross-Sector Synergy to Boost Self-Reliant and Sustainable Agricultural Productivity
18 Jun 2025In commemoration of the 53rd Hari Krida Pertanian (National Farmers Day), the Department of Agriculture and Food Security of Tangerang Regency held the Tangerang Agro Festival (TAFEST) 2025 on June 13–14, 2025. Taking place at the Agropolitan Center (PUSKAGRO) Tangerang, this event reflects the local government's commitment to fostering public interest in agriculture and realizing a self-reliant and sustainable food system.
One of the key initiatives of TAFEST 2025 is a collaboration between Edufarmers, Berkah Farm and Smartfarm farmer groups, and Pantai Indah Kapuk Dua, working together to manage government-owned corn and melon fields. The produce from these lands will be returned to the farmers as a form of empowerment.
"These corn fields are managed directly by farmer groups so they can benefit from the process. The farmers are the ones who plant, care for, fertilize, and harvest the crops. We’re here to support them," added the Regent during a site visit to the jointly managed demoplot.
Another highlight of the festival was the introduction of AI Pak Dayat, an AI-powered WhatsApp chatbot developed by Edufarmers to help farmers quickly solve agricultural problems in the field. This technology was praised by the Regent for its potential to improve productivity and expand farmers' access to agricultural knowledge.
Through this cross-sector collaboration, the management of corn and melon fields is expected to enhance farmer productivity. This initiative not only produces quality food for the farmers themselves but also benefits the surrounding communities, laying the foundation for a more resilient and self-sufficient food future.
