2nd Agri-Food Tech Expo Asia Holds Roadshow in Jakarta and Bangkok

Jakarta, 2 August 2023 - Approaching Agri-Food Tech Expo Asia (AFTEA), the one and only agricultural technology-focused exhibition platform in Asia, today Constellar, as the exhibition organizer, held a regional roadshow in Jakarta attended by Director of Food and Agriculture of the National Development Planning Agency (BAPPENAS) Jarot Indarto, Chairman of GAPMMI Adhi S. Lukman, and Executive Director of PISAgro Insan Syafaat. The roadshow exclusively provides an overview to the audience, consisting of experts, industry practitioners, government, associations, and media, of the latest technologies and solutions that will be showcased. The exhibition, which will be held on October 31–November 2, 2023, at the Sands Expo & Convention Centre Singapore, also provides an opportunity for Indonesian agricultural business players to share insights and build networks to advance agricultural technology in Indonesia.

Apart from Indonesia, Constellar also held a roadshow in Thailand. Both countries were chosen as hosts for the roadshow because they are among the three Southeast Asian countries with the highest contribution to GDP and employment through their agriculture sectors. The agricultural sector in Indonesia has an unrivaled position in the economy and plays an important role in Indonesia's future economic development. Meanwhile, Thailand has accelerated its national digital transformation plan for the food and agriculture industries in recent years by focusing on big data, smart agriculture, e-commerce, and agribusiness upgrading.

Asia-Pacific region is expected to account for 60% of global consumption by 2030, and is home to around 450 million small-scale farmers who contribute up to 80% of food supply in Asia Pacific. There is a need to scale up global agri-food technology financing and industry development to ensure a more sustainable future for the region. "AFTEA is held to inspire stakeholders and empower them to make informed decisions, and help accelerate collaboration, opportunities and solutions as a region," said Wendy Chng Petit, Event Director, Constellar.

On previous exhibition, AFTEA organized in partnership between Constellar and DLG (Deutsche Landwirtschafts-Gesellschaft / German Agricultural Society), attracted more than 6,000 visitors from 66 countries, and 163 exhibitors from 24 countries with 9 national pavilions from Canada, France, Germany, Indonesia, Israel, Republic of Korea, Singapore, Netherlands and UK. The organizers also facilitated more than 500 business meetings and 55 sandbox sessions during the exhibition.

Building on the momentum of the key theme 'Enhancing Food Ecosystems for a Sustainable Future', AFTEA 2023 will focus on the triple bottom line of Innovation, sustainability, and safety. This focus is intended to explore solutions and technologies that will improve every stage and aspect of the food production and manufacturing supply chain for future generations in the Asia Pacific region.

A New Program for AFTEA 2023

In addition to the Living Lab, Sandbox, and business-matching, this year will also hold the first Culinary Lab and Founders' Hub program, a product demonstration that will provide real-life experiences, and stakeholders in the Agritech industry who will share their business journeys.

 AFTEA is the main event of the Singapore International Agri-Food Week (SIAW), organized by Temasek and the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) and supported by the Economic Development Board (EDB), Enterprise Singapore (ESG), and the Singapore Tourism Board (STB).

AFTEA 2023 is supported by trade associations including the Singapore Manufacturing Federation (SMF), the French Chamber of Commerce in Singapore (FCCS), the Singapore-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGC), the APAC Society for Cellular Agriculture (APAC-SCA), the Canada-ASEAN Business Council, the Indonesian Food and Beverage Manufacturers Association (GAPMMI), the Partnership for Sustainable Agriculture Indonesia (PISAgro), and the Japan Cellular Agriculture Association (JACA).
