Vice President of Indonesia Appreciates the Role of the BERES Movement Program in Stunting Reduction

In order to achieve the target of reducing the stunting rate by 14% in 2024, KADIN (Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry) and Kompas Gramedia have launched the BERES movement (Together Eradicate Stunting), involving partners and non-governmental organizations to collectively combat stunting in Indonesia. This program received full appreciation from the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, K.H. Ma'ruf Amin, on Thursday, October 26, 2023, at Kompas Tower, Jakarta.
The BERES program is a well-measured initiative to prevent and address stunting by providing supplementary food (PMT) to underweight, malnourished, and undernourished infants. The provision of food within the BERES program involves SMEs and women's empowerment groups, creating economic reciprocity, enhancing community well-being, and empowering women.
Through BERES program, Edufarmers collaborates to help accelerate stunting reduction. As a foundation that cares about the agricultural sector and its utilization, Edufarmers helps to provide healthy and nutritious food to beneficiaries, especially children.
In his speech, Ma'ruf Amin emphasized the need for stunting programs to complement each other to avoid overlapping efforts. He also stressed that stunting programs should be implemented in areas with a high prevalence of stunting to significantly reduce the prevalence. Therefore, there should be tangible evidence that targets priority groups, allowing them to experience the benefits directly and positioning beneficiaries as key actors. Lastly, sustainability strategies should be planned from the outset to continue this commendable initiative.
"Let us continue to synergize in reducing stunting prevalence to create the golden generation of 2045 and a stunting-free Indonesia. Always involve the community in every stage of implementation to foster a sense of ownership and pride among the people," said the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia with enthusiasm and delight.
