Signing of a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation Agreement to Improve Health and Reduce Stunting

27 Mar 2024

The issue of stunting remains a major challenge for Indonesia in realizing a golden generation in the future. Various steps have been taken by various institutions and organizations to reduce the incidence of stunting, one of which is collaboration across sectors. Institutions and organizations involved in reducing stunting come not only from the health sector but also from sectors involved in agriculture, social issues, the economy, humanitarian efforts, and others, all aiming to achieve the same goal.

In collaboration with the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN), together with Edufarmers and 17 other institutions, signed a memorandum of understanding on 'Improving Public Health and Health System Transformation' and a cooperation agreement on 'Synergy and Implementation of the Acceleration Program for Reducing Stunting' as efforts to accelerate the reduction of stunting and enhance health system transformation. The signing of the memorandum of understanding and cooperation agreement took place at the KADIN Tower Indonesia on Friday, February 2, 2024.

Through the signing of the memorandum of understanding and cooperation agreement, various parties are directly involved in various activities aimed at reducing stunting. These activities include socialization and publication, fundraising, and concrete action activities for accelerating the reduction of stunting according to the tasks, functions, and authorities of each institution and organization. In carrying out these activities, the involved institutions and organizations are required to apply the pentahelix approach consisting of government, business, academia, community, and media in concrete action activities.

The collaboration across sectors agreed upon is expected to reduce the incidence of stunting in Indonesia and improve the healthcare system and services in the country.
